skin.

it eats at your face
but you can’t touch it.
before the wind
was a welcome
cool breeze.
now the earth
rips through you,
like the asphalt
screaming towards
a skinny knee cap.

it covers your jaw,
a red, angry hunger.
ugly and pulpy,
like the grey,
cancerous matter
from an anti-smoking
campaign.
before the wind
was a welcome
cool breeze.
